Your analysis was spot on in regards to the Belgian Malinois! I currently have had the pleasure of owning one. She’s the light of my life! She’s constantly patrolling the back yard, only barking when someone comes to the fence! To notify me someone is here. I’ve taken her to various functions with my family and friends and they too are impressed at how she’s grown and with the training I’ve provided for her, she excels in her dislpays!

The Rhodesian Ridgeback is a great option for the guard dog category. I used to have an uncle who bred and raised them. Actually a fairly intelligent dog.

I’ve had a Doberman and can attest to their locality. But I have to say that the Caucasian Mountain dog we imported in 2011 was also a class act when it came to a great family protector. With 170 pound body weight and a head the size of a bear she was intimidating to strangers.
